What is the Signal water leak sensor?

It is the perfect product to reduce the risk of water damage to your home. With the Signal, you hear the alarm, and if you have a Smartika Hub, it will activate the Smart Mode feature to send an alarm and a notification to your mobile device(s) if a water leak is detected. If there is a potential water leak area, you will be notified instantly. The Signal’s sealable cover is reusable, so it can be used again after a water leak detection. 

Where should I put my Signal water leak sensor?

Suggested areas: laundry rooms, under cabinet plumbing, hot water tanks, air conditioners, bathrooms, basements, near windows, etc. – basically, anywhere and everywhere.

How can I test the Signal water leak sensor siren?

To test the sensor you have two options: press the TEST button found under the sensor to hear the alarm and receive notifications; or put a drop of water on one of the three feet.

How does the Signal water leak sensor notify leakages?

You can hear the Signal’s audible alarm. With the Smartika Hub, you can configure it to receive a notification and an email on your mobile device(s) when a water leak is detected.

Therefore, if there is a potential water leak, you will be instantly notified by device notifications and/or email.

What energy source does the Signal water leak sensor require?

Two 1.5 V AA Alkaline batteries, which are included with the purchase of the Signal water leak sensor.

How will I know if the Signal water leak sensor battery is low on power?

A different audible alarm will sound to confirm that it is low on power. Also, in Smart Mode, you can receive a notification on your device(s) and receive an email. You will be able to test it with the TEST button found under the Signal water leak sensor.

Can I install the Signal water leak sensor with a telephone dialer?

The Signal can be used on its own and you can set up notifications using the Smartika Hub and mobile application. 

Should I report Signal water leak sensor ownership to my insurance company?

You can check with your insurance company to determine if rebates are available.

Can I change the Sensor alarm music?

The Signal has two types of audible alarms and they cannot be modified.

Does the Signal water leak sensor have an ON/OFF switch?

No, the Signal does not have an ON/OFF switch. 

Can the Signal water leak sensor work without the Smartika application?

The Signal does work on its own with audible alarms. You can receive notifications when away from home using the Smartika Hub and mobile application.

In Smart mode, how do I synchronize the Signal water leak sensor with the Hub?
  • Press the sync button on the Hub. The Hub button light will flash while it is synchronizing.
  • Press the sync button on the Signal. The button light will flash while it is synchronizing. The light will stop flashing once the device is synchronized with the Hub.
  • On the Smartika application, press “+”, then press “Look for devices” to find and add the Signal device.
What happens if I press the Signal water leak sensor button while the unit is operational and visible on the Smartika application?

The light will flash. It will stop after a few seconds.

What is the lifespan of the Signal water leak sensor’s batteries?

The Signal water leak sensor works with two regular AA batteries which usually last for over four years.

What is the Signal water leak sensor warranty period?

The warranty is one year from the date of purchase.

How can I test my Signal water leak sensor to make sure it is operational?

Pressing the TEST button found under the unit will activate the alarm. This is a good way of testing the batteries and we recommend checking this. You can also test the sensor feet with water to review the audible alarm and notification configurations.

How often should I test my Signal water leak sensor to make sure it is operational?

This should be done after changing the batteries. We recommend that you test the sensor every six months.

Does the Signal water leak sensor have any LED lights that flash or confirm unit operations?

The Signal water leak sensor has a sync button light that will flash when pressed to synchronize with the Hub. If water is detected, the sync button “ON” light will turn on and remain solid until the sensor feet are dry. 

What other equipment do I need to use the Signal water leak sensor with my phone?

To get notifications when away from home, you will need the Smartika Hub and to have the free Smartika application installed on your phone.

How much water is required to activate the Signal water leak sensor?

The Signal water leak sensor will activate with one drop of water on one of its sensor feet.

Does the Signal water leak sensor include battery saver features?

The Signal water leak sensor comes with two AA batteries included in the box which lasts for over four years.

The Signal is a made specifically for water detection. When the Signal gets wet, it will activate the alarm and send a notification. 

Will rechargeable batteries work with the Signal water leak sensor?

Yes, you can use rechargeable batteries. Note that the device has two AA batteries that are included in the box. 

How sensitive is the Signal water leak sensor?

A single drop of water on one of the Signal sensor feet will activate the alarm.

Will the Signal water leak sensor float in the event of flooding?

The Signal water leak sensor will float in the event of flooding. It can be used again after a water leak detection. Simply put your sensor back into place.

How long does it take to receive notifications?

The Signal water leak sensor instantaneously activates the audible alarm and within seconds sends a notification and email, depending on your third-party services, mobile devices or Wi-Fi devices.

Instead of using the smartphone application, can the Signal water leak sensor simply send an email to a designated email address?

The Smartika application must be used to receive notification emails. Upon installation of the application, the email address selected in the configuration process will be the one used to receive notifications. Only one email account can be used for the moment, but this will change in the future.

If I have more than one Signal water leak sensor, can they be individually named/identified on the application?

Yes, within the Smartika application you can name all your devices and select room locations if desired.

What if I test the Signal water leak sensor with water and cannot stop the alarm? Is there a reset sequence?

The Alarm will remain ON until the unit has been removed from the source of liquid. There is no switch on the device. Once the device sensor feet are dry, the audible alarm will turn off. You should never remove the batteries or press the sync button to deactivate the alarm while the unit is wet, as your Smartika application keeps track of the water status. 

Can I adjust the alarm of the Signal water leak sensor? Can I silence or turn off the sound of the alarm?

The Signal’s audible alarm cannot be adjusted. 

Is there a monitoring fee?

The Signal water leak sensor does not have a monitoring fee.

Does the Signal water leak sensor work with Alexa Echo Amazon?

The Smartika Hub and Smartika application can work with Alexa for lighting and climate control. However, the Signal water leak sensor is not supported by Amazon Echo Alexa.

Does the Signal water leak sensor send text notifications?

The Signal water leak sensor sends notifications via the application and via email.

For the moment, the Signal water leak sensor only works with the Smartika Hub and Smartika application.
